Human Car Battery

Yesterday, I had my first acupuncture treatment in a month. I was way overdue. I think all the stress of the various doctor appointments, bloodwork, X-rays, etc. over the last couple of weeks was getting to me (I have to have a colonoscopy in July…blech) because I started having some pretty intense lower back pain a few days ago. When I told the acupuncturist about my pain, he started nodding his head vigorously and began prodding my stomach all over. He then said, “mmm hmm,” and pulled out a contraption that looked like a switchboard with 4 mini jumper cables attached.

After inserting acupuncture needles into both of my shins and hands, he proceeded to hook up the jumper cables to each needle, turned on the machine, and then adjusted its frequency (?) until each needle point was vibrating under my skin like a relentless eye twitch. It was kind of awesome.

He had me turn over on my stomach and repeated the procedure at 4 points on my middle and lower back. After I was sufficiently charged up and ready to go, he put 2 smelly patches on my lower back. He told me to leave them on for 24 hours and that my back would feel much better. Well, I went out for a rare night of dancing last night and didn’t get to bed until 3 AM this morning. I wore heels all night and danced my ass off. My back feels great today.

Someone else was raving to me about acupuncture at a wedding this weekend. Am so keen to try!
